Family law matters can be difficult on all parties involved. The Law Office of Judy Harris Sutton P.L.L.C. will work with you to provide professional service to you and your family during this difficult time. We are committed to providing you the kindest, empathetic service possible.
I am a Mont Belvieu Texas divorce attorney who has personally experienced the pain and trauma of divorce, then the heartbreak of terminating my Daughter’s Father’s rights, followed by the joy of my Daughter’s Adoption by her Step Dad. I am committed to helping your family obtain the best possible result and/or remedy. I am a compassionate, yet level-headed family law attorney who has now spent 26 years guiding clients through the emotional, physical, and psychological issues involved in a divorce and/or custody proceeding. Make no mistake, when a client seeks a family law attorney, he or she is in crisis. Problems and disagreements arise that cause a great deal of fear and animosity, so I usually advocate mediation to help spare clients the tension and expense of a costly bench or jury trial. But, ultimately, that will be your decision, whether to accept our mediated settlement or go forward to Final Trial.
I am a sole practitioner, who utilizes her skills and experience to help guide families through the evidence and discovery selection, the negotiation process, and finally on to mediation, and an agreeable settlement. However, when litigation is the only remedy, I am confident and capable at trial.
My team consists of myself, a licensed attorney, and one paralegal, who helps me provide a calm and caring environment with hands on legal services. My practice is devoted to the area of family law, so I only represent clients in divorce, child support, child custody and visitation, or in a marital property division, grandparent's rights, adoption, and/or paternity case. Because, unfortunately, especially if your lawsuit involves a divorce, it is inevitable that this will be one of the worst times in your life. Therefore, I believe in a humanitarian approach to the practice of law, which put simply means “a human touch.” Because besides your own life being in turmoil, often your children, grandchildren, and sometimes even your nieces and nephews are impacted. Thus, the way your case is handled can and will affect your young children and other relatives for the rest of their lives!
I am a native Houstonian who attended the University of Houston at Clear Lake, and received a Master Degree in English and Theatre. After teaching junior high, high school and junior college for 7 years, I enrolled in law school where I obtained my Doctorate in Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in Houston.
JUDY HARRIS SUTTON IS NOT A TAX ATTORNEY, NOR A C.P.A.
SHE ADVISES ALL CLIENTS TO CONSULT THEIR REGULAR C.P.A. OR TAX ATTORNEY ON ALL TAX MATTERS.
THE LAW OFFICE OF JUDY HARRIS SUTTON P.L.L.C. WILL MAKE NO REPRESENTATIONS OR PROMISES TO CLIENTS CONCERNING EXPECTED OUTCOMES; FINAL RESULTS AT TRIAL; OR GUARANTEES OF CLIENT'S OR PROSPECTIVE CLIENT'S SUCCESS OR EXPECTED OUTCOMES. THE END RESULT AT MEDIATION OR FINAL TRIAL DEPENDS ON THE FACTS OF EACH INDIVIDUAL CASE, MY CLIENT’S ABILITY TO LISTEN AND FOLLOW LEGAL ADVICE, AND FACTS UNCOVERED OR DISCLOSED IN WRITTEN DISCOVERY.
THERE ARE ALWAYS OTHER FACTORS WE CAN NOT CONTROL, SUCH AS THE FOLLOWING: PERSONALITY, AND BELIEVABILITY OF OPPOSING COUNSEL AND THE OPPOSING PARTIES; CHILD'S ATTORNEY'S RECOMMENDATION OR POSITION; ANY WITNESSES' TESTIMONY; ANY EVIDENCE GOOD OR HARMFUL DISCLOSED IN THE COUNTY WHERE THE SUIT IS FILED; THE MEDIATOR ASSIGNED OR CHOSEN; AND THE JUDGE AND OR JURY WHO DETERMINES THE FINAL OUTCOME IF WE CAN NOT SUCCESSFULLY MEDIATE AN AGREEMENT.
NOTE- THE MAJORITY OF ALL MY PREVIOUS FAMILY LAW CLIENTS IN MY 26 YEARS OF PRACTICE HAVE REACHED AN AGREEMENT WITHOUT GOING FORWARD TO FINAL TRIAL.
